Course overview
STCW Courses form the foundational safety backbone of a seafaring career, entrusted with equipping every seafarer with essential life-saving and emergency response skills at sea.
The Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) is a mandatory programme designed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to ensure globally competent and safety-conscious maritime professionals.
The programme comprises 12 to 14 days of intensive pre-sea training ashore, covering five core modules including Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting, Personal Survival Techniques, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities. On successful completion, candidates are awarded internationally recognized certificates, approved by D.G. Shipping, Government of India, making them eligible to obtain a Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC) and join a vessel.

This course trains candidates to handle medical emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses onboard when immediate professional medical help is not available. Cadets learn practical skills like CPR, bandaging, managing bleeding, shock treatment, and handling burns and fractures. The training is conducted by certified medical instructors with hands-on practice on dummies and first-aid kits. On completion, you will be confident to act as a first responder in any onboard emergency. This certificate is mandatory for CDC and is valid internationally for 5 years.
2. PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES (PST)

This module teaches you how to use life jackets, life rafts, lifebuoys, and distress signals effectively. The major part of the training is conducted in a swimming pool where you learn to jump into water, swim with a life jacket, board a life raft, and stay afloat. You are also trained in hypothermia prevention, sea survival psychology, and rescue operations. This practical training builds confidence to face worst-case emergencies. PST is a compulsory certificate for every seafarer joining a merchant ship.
3. FIRE PREVENTION & FIRE FIGHTING
Fire is one of the most dangerous emergencies at sea The FPFF course prepares seafarers to prevent, detect, and fight fires onboard a vessel.
The training includes both theory and intense practical sessions in our DG approved fire ground. You will learn about types of fires, fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus (BA set), and fire fighting techniques. Real fire scenarios are created where cadets practice extinguishing fires with water, foam, and CO2. Safety drills, teamwork, and emergency response procedures are the core focus of this module. It builds the courage and skill to save lives and property at sea.
4. PERSONAL SAFETY & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

This course educates cadets about shipboard safety, enclosed space entry, accident prevention, and understanding orders and hierarchy. It also covers MARPOL regulations to prevent marine pollution, importance of effective communication, and social responsibilities among multinational crew. The aim is to create a disciplined, safety-conscious, and cooperative professional seafarer. This theoretical yet highly interactive module is essential for adapting to shipboard life.
