Course overview
The Advanced Training for Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations (CHEMCO) is a 7-day DG Shipping-approved advanced modular course conducted through classroom instruction and practical training sessions. It is mandatory for Masters, Chief Engineers, Chief Mates, Second Engineers and seafarers who have immediate responsibility for loading, discharging, care in transit, handling of cargo, tank cleaning or other cargo-related operations on chemical tankers. The course provides in-depth knowledge of chemical cargo properties, hazards, cargo handling systems, safety precautions, pollution prevention, and emergency response procedures as per STCW guidelines. Successful completion of the CHEMCO course enables seafarers to safely manage cargo operations on chemical tankers and is an essential qualification for career advancement in the chemical tanker sector of the Merchant Navy.
The course provides in-depth knowledge of LNG & LPG cargo properties, gas handling systems, cargo operations, safety precautions, pollution prevention, and emergency response procedures as per STCW guidelines.
