The Tanker Familiarisation – Oil & Chemical (TASCO) Course is a DG Shipping-approved familiarization course designed to provide basic knowledge of oil and chemical tanker operations to seafarers joining tanker vessels for the first time. This course covers fundamental principles of tanker safety, cargo characteristics, pollution prevention, and emergency procedures as per STCW Convention.

It is mandatory for all seafarers who are sailing on oil and chemical tankers without prior tanker experience and serves as the first step before undergoing the OCTCO course. Successful completion of TASCO enables candidates to understand tanker terminology, basic cargo handling operations, and safety culture onboard oil and chemical tankers.
