Course overview
The Refresher Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (Ref-FPFF) is a 1-day DG Shipping-approved Refresher Course conducted through classroom instruction and practical training sessions. It is mandatory for all seafarers who are required to revalidate their Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting certificate as per STCW Convention Regulation VI/1.This course is designed to refresh and enhance the fire-fighting skills of seafarers and keep them updated with the latest fire prevention and fire-fighting techniques used onboard ships.
Training includes understanding fire chemistry and fire triangle, identification of fire hazards onboard, use of fixed fire detection and extinguishing systems, operation and use of portable fire extinguishers, fireman’s outfit and breathing apparatus (SCBA), fire-fighting procedures in enclosed spaces, search and rescue operations in smoke-filled compartments, and coordination with shipboard fire-fighting teams during emergencies.
Successful completion of the Refresher Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting course is mandatory for revalidation of CoC / CDC and for maintaining eligibility to serve onboard all types of merchant vessels including Cargo Ships, Tankers, Container Ships, Bulk Carriers and Offshore Vessels.
